Strawberry Shortcake!

So today I am totally procrastinating. The only thing I don't like about my business is the paperwork. I hate it actually. I basically have put off all of 2007 record keeping and now I am facing a huge pile to get through. It's my goal for today to tackle this mess and I thought it would be more fun to post about my daughter's party first. Yesterday we celebrated her 4th birthday with a few friends and a Strawberry Shortcake theme. She loves anything Strawberry Shortcake and I do too. It reminds me of when I was little. I am so happy they have brought this line of toys into stores again. So I also tackled one of those cake molds with all of the fun icing colors. I have to say they look a lot harder than they are to decorate. Although it was time consuming, it was so much fun to create this cake for my daughter. She really loved it! But I have to say the best part of the whole day was when my little one came to my husband and I and said "thank you for my birthday", and no one told her to say it!

Cake mold and food coloring from Michael's craft store.

I ordered the paper goods from Birthday Express. They have great themed party packs with everything you need!

The cake looks yummy - great job decorating it! I'm always too intimidated to try one - for fear of creating something more scary than cute LOL Happy belated birthday to your DD Dawn!

How cute is that???? You did a great job. I checked out your site and just LOVED the pink beaded hangy ornament things...with the words. When will you have more of those???? :)

You are entered in "A VERY BELLA GIVEAWAY!" Just one week left...this has been a ton of fun.

I'm also excited about starting a new website which is why I had the giveaway in the first place.

Nice to meet you! Beautiful looking blog. I'll have to add you to my favorites!

Coming from someone who decorates cakes as a business...you did a great job. I tell my friends all the time...that if they knew how easy it was, they would never buy cakes at the store again...LOL!

BTW...my daughter is a SS fan too!

Dawn, that is so cute! My daughter is turning 4 in Feb. and last year we also had a strawberry shortcake theme. I collected it when little too and it always brings a smile! You can still get the originals on ebay too!

Hugs~

Turned out great! I've attempted some cake making myself...not so easy...but fun. I love making my daughters birthday cakes for them....seems to make it more special for me. But boy does it make your neck and shoulders hurt! Ha!

Too cute! You did a wonderful job on the cake! I love making homemade cakes because I get to make yummy homemade icing. :) I often made my little brother's birthday cakes when they were little. It was a lot of fun.

Strawberry Shortcake was a favorite of mine when I was little too. :) My room was decorated in SS and I had all of the figurines and the house. I held onto all of my SS toys for my future little girl, so I hope one day I have a sweet daughter who loves SS as much as yours!
