Shop news...

These gorgeous new ribbons came in today.
Country French Floral on Blue Linen

I'm like a kid ripping the boxes open!

Vintage French Floral Linen

You see I have a ribbon addiction, always have. That is why I had to start selling my inventory.

French Script in Grey on Linen

I couldn't possibly use all of the ribbons I have bought over the years.  But I have found that many of you (all over the world) love ribbon too and the selection in your local craft stores are just not that great.

So, I get to buy more ribbon!

In the studio...

A great new dresser is next in line for an Annie Sloan paint treatment. This beauty will be done in Old White with a little distressing and a dark walnut top.  When she's all done - you will find her on display at Lavender Fields - fitting right in with the store's fresh new look for the new year. On my way there now to work with Lori - creating some gorgeous new vignettes!  My idea of a perfect day!

2010 Projects - A Year in Review

Wow - 2010 flew by!

Sometimes I feel like I'm not getting anything accomplished with our crazy schedules but going through my posts from the year - I see that we have done so much this year!

My favorite and most memorable project began on New Year's Day 2010.  The family helped out create 54 hand painted signs with inspirational quotes for a Domestic Violence Shelter in NYC - a project sponsored by Martha Stewart and Enchanted Makeovers.  See the entire post HERE.

As far as our own home projects. Here is a fun one - transforming an ugly garage entry door and getting in on the whole chalkboard paint trend.

The project post is HERE.

More fun with chalkboard paint.

A reorganization of my creative space also took place this year. Brought it up from the dreary unfinished basement space and into my living room. See more photos HERE.

Paris Dreams...Our oldest daughter desired a Paris themed bedroom - this was a creative project that she was also involved in - we really had fun in here. See the before and after pics HERE.

A true "trash to treasure" kitchen table redo was also on the list this year. I "borrowed" our old one for a new work table in the studio - so we had to replace it. This one was perfect!
See what we did to it HERE.

The final project of the year? The wedding. My husband and I were involved with the decor for my brother's wedding. Here are a sample of pics from the big day. More details HERE.

So, that's about it for the year 2010. We did accomplish a lot this year.

On the agenda for 2011? Lots of home improvement to come - laundry room renovation still in progress.
Then, the kids' homework/study room. Too many books, projects, etc. ending up on the kitchen table. So  we will be redoing the office to create a space just for them to get all of their work done!

How about you? Any projects on the list for the new year?

It's Party Time! Where Bloggers Create and a Giveaway!

Welcome to the party - so glad you came - I thought I'd have a giveaway to celebrate Karen's annual event - more about that later.

Here we are in my creative studio aka the living room.

As you first walk into the room - my finished products are on display for my local customers that like to shop in person.  Plus I get to play store - creating fun displays.

Bella is always here to say hello and she's the best company while I work. I know it's kind of dark and she's a chocolate lab - but she's there at the bottom of the photo.

This is the place where I escape (I can actually close the doors in here and really escape!), and it's where I go to create for my boutique Hydrangea Home. You will find me making accessories for your home. I can't really describe the style as it's always changing around here. I am currently inspired by the serene colors of Swedish Design and you will see that in my work. At the moment I am making tassels, tomorrow it might be mixed-media art, and next week you might find me at the sewing machine.

The majority of the room is my creative and office space.

My sewing area - I call it modern vintage. My machine sits on top of an old Singer table. I just love the storage.

This is the creative cabinet. If you haven't seen the before and after pic of the piece, you can find it here. Right now it holds some of my decorating books (I have an obsession), and various supplies.

Next up is my new ribbon station (another obsession). Love this new space. Almost everything I need for my tassels right here. Would you believe my husband hung these hooks up for me this morning? I'm such a procrastinator - I need a deadline to get things done!

More ribbon!

Here is another great storage piece - found this one at TJ Maxx.

It stores some fabric...

Grandma's buttons - in grandma's old cookie tin...

And some pretty boxes filled with glitters.

Here is where I do my computer work and (I hate this word) paperwork.  Well I really don't do the paperwork, so it's piling up!

The work table...

What's on the work table? Paint, tools (in my new favorite toolbox from TJ Maxx).

Cones and paper roses....

Here is a nice view I have out to my backyard.

See that pretty book on the table?

It was an anniversary gift from my husband in 2002. He bought it at an art store in NYC. Look what he wrote - he's probably going to kill me for showing you but I just think it's too sweet!

Something I painted a long time ago. I need to get back to adding to this book.

Here is a little quote for you!

Some of my greatest inspiration over the years have come from this stack.

One final look at my studio...

I would like to leave you with this...
