Rustic Floral Centerpiece DIY

This floral piece may look like it took a lot of time but no, it couldn't be easier!

Ingredients:
4 mason jars
1 rustic planter box (find HERE)
1 small bunch of lemon leaf
1 small bunch of seeded eucalyptus
6 mini green hydrangeas
4 stems of pink alstroemerias
6 stems of purple asters

1. Fill jars with water and floral preservative.
2. Strip leaves from lower stems that will be under water.
3. Trim stems under water.
4. I like to start with the greens.
5. Add the mini hydrangeas.
6. Add the alstroemerias.
7. Add the asters.

Enjoy!

Decoupaged Eggs ~ two looks

Love the way these eggs turn out. Here are two different looks for the same paper, same process. I like using paper mache eggs - so I can display them again next year.

Glittered in Crushed Glass

Tea-Dye Varnished

Start with your paper mache or wooden eggs and prime them. You can find the eggs in different sizes.

Then take some tissue paper and tear it into small pieces 1"-2". I like using an allover pattern such as this pretty floral.

Using, white glue or Mod Podge, start gluing and placing your pieces all over the egg until completely covered.

The next step is going to give you two completely different looks.

You can use a tea-dye varnish for a vintage look. I don't know if this product is still in stores - but anything like it will work - or an acrylic glaze would be fine too. And don't worry about the folds ~ I love how the varnish collects in the creases.

Or german glass glitter for a sparkly egg.

For the finishing touch, I like to add some vintage lace and buttons.

 And paper shreds for display.

Hope you enjoyed the project! Would love to see how you are decorating with eggs this year. Leave a link in the comments for us to visit.

Spring Preview

After walking through Martha's craft department, I just had to come home and play with my glitter and flowers. Here's a preview of some new spring products - listed here.

It was fun creating again...

Now to clean up the glitter!

Easter Treats

I know it's over, but since we only finished making these goodies at midnight Saturday night, I didn't have time to share them with you. These are pics of the desserts we made for my brother and sister-in-law's Easter brunch. Not only were they fun to make and look at - they tasted pretty good too! The little nests were a thin chocolate cookie with chocolate ganache piped on top and toasted coconut. We used peanut butter M&Ms for the eggs. It's a Martha Stewart recipe found HERE. The cookie pops were a basic sugar cookie recipe with royal icing. I used 10" sticks so that I could stick them into styrofoam set inside the planter. Aren't they cute?!

We had a nice time at my brothers as usual, but I think I need to detox from all of the sugar we consumed yesterday! Hope you all had a great Easter!
