Friday Feature - Recipes Part 1

Cooking is one of my favorite things so I do have lots of recipes. Today, I will post just this one great quiche recipe, perfect for Christmas brunch. The colors of the red peppers and green spinach are just right! I have made this quiche so many times, definitely one of my favorites. I will post more recipes throughout the week. Let me know if you are looking for anything special, I might just have a recipe for it.

Spinach, Red Pepper, and Feta Quiche

1 frozen prepared pie shell

3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1 cup chopped onion

2 (4-ounce) jars chopped roasted peppers

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 (10-ounce) package frozen leaf spinach, thawed, excess liquid squeezed out and chopped

3 large eggs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan

1 cup milk

2/3 cup (3 ounces) crumbled feta

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Blind bake the crust: Line the pie shell with aluminum foil and weight it with pie weights or beans. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until light golden brown.
Increase oven temperature to 375 degrees F.
In a large skillet, heat oil over moderate heat. Add onion and cook until softened. Turn up heat to moderately high. Add pimentos, garlic, and spinach and cook, stirring until just heated through. Drain off any excess liquid. Beat the eggs in a bowl and add the Parmesan and milk. Add the spinach mixture and feta, and pour into the pie shell. Bake on a sheet pan in the middle of the oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until just set.

Friday Feature-Christmas Tablescapes

I am so excited to come to my 50th post. And just want to say that I love blogland and all of the great creative people I have met.

This week's feature is one of my favorites, Tablescapes! I have talked before about how I like to use hat boxes under the second layer of fabric to lift the platters off the table. Once the serving pieces are placed, the fun begins!

For this one, I used lots of berry and pinecone rings and pics to add some interest.

Choose a dramatic centerpiece for your table.

And fill in with fresh greenery (sprayed with glitter of course) from your yard if possible.

Try to use some color coordinated platters and bowls too.
You can use something different, like these mini urns for your utensils.

This bowl is more interesting on a pedestal with a pinecone berry ring.

Now I have taken the same tablescape, left all of the shades of white and changed from burgandies, greens and gold to pinks and silver. Which do you prefer?

The dessert station.

What's nice too, is that any of these ideas can be used on a much smaller scale, like just for a cocktail party or dessert station.

So if your dinner is going to be a sit down, here are some simpler centerpiece ideas.

White roses with fresh canberries in a trifle bowl. Love this one! Looks perfect with just a few candles on the table.

A low lying arrangement like this one allows you to see your guests accross the table.

And finally, some staggered candles and mini trees make a very pretty table.

Please send me an email if you need any ideas for creating your own tablescape.

Friday Feature - Fall Tablescapes

Welcome to my first Friday Feature! I am so excited about this and hope you will enjoy them. If there is something you would like to see me talk about here, please let me know. I'm sure I will be looking for some new ideas. Besides cooking when entertaining, I think my favorite part about getting ready for company is setting up my tablescape. There is just something about putting food out on different levels that makes it all look so much better and more appetizing. Plus it's so much fun too! For this table, start off with one tablecloth over the table and then start adding the lifts. Now here I used hatboxes that are disguised under a second tablecloth and cake stands that are place on top of the second tablecloth. Then I place my platters and serving bowls out next.

This tray holds a centerpiece, mini pumpkins and candles. Think about using those electric candles they have in the stores now. They look like a flickering flame yet your guest won't burn their sleeve when reaching over the table. The candles come in tea lights and pillars.
It's important to "label" the dishes being served so your guests will know what they are about to eat. These buffet markers do the trick and are a great little accent too!Flowers are a must whether fresh or real they will beautify your tablescape.
These little urns make great utensil holders and try to use plates that will set the color scheme of your tablescape.

Berry rings can be used around candles and make great napkin rings too!

Why not put your wine out in a pretty holder like this one which also doubles as a candle holder.

Don't these mini pumpkins look cute on these candle pedestals?

Finally, fill in any bare spots in your tablescape with some fresh or realistic berries, branches or twigs.

I think your guests will really appreciate the effort you put into entertaining. If you haven't done one before, try a tablescape. I would love to hear all about your ideas too! Some of the products I have used can be found under my Tent Sale.

I am also having a sale on the following categories.
