So excited about these new photo/art pieces we have added to our line!
Showcasing 3 of our loves:

preserved floral goblets

Been working on some new preserved florals in vintage silver goblets for The White Weathered Barn.
Rena, the owner, has an eye for finding some really beautiful silver pieces.

a beautiful wedding day keepsake

preserved flowers :  the beauty of fresh, reduced shedding, long lasting.

Rena and her husband Jason make some really cool things out of vintage silverware as well ~ from stamped pieces, jewelry, mobiles and hooks.  You must stop in and say hello to this creative duo if you are ever in the Greenport area (the beautiful north fork of Long Island).

Summer food

These yellow tomatoes were so good. Going to pick up more today from one of our favorite farms on the north fork of Long Island - Sang Lee Farms. A little s&p with fresh basil and placed between breaded eggplant with a dollop of ricotta. Sorry - no after pics - we were too hungry!

Country Living Fair!!!

Tropical storm Andrea warnings didn't keep us away. My honey took the day off and we traveled 3 hours in the rain to get there. So worth it!!

Gorgeous Downtown Rhinebeck, NY

I was so happy to be there!!
So if you didn't know about it or you're thinking about it? Go!! If you like vintage or handmade, you will love it!

So excited to meet the talented artist Jennifer Lanne! I've been a fan of her gorgeous work for a long time. She is so sweet too! And I just love that she lives on a farm in upstate NY.

It was also so nice to see one of my favorite jewelry artists, Maryellen of Twist Style.  We met many years ago at another Country Living event and I've been a fan of her work ever since.  Love my new turquoise and smokey quartz earrings.

A couple of more things I picked up at the show.

A great canvas/burlap pillow slipcover from
Gathered Comforts. They had some really great vintage pieces in their booth too.
I really love my wooden spoons made from cherry wood, especially the peanut butter and jelly spoon.
You can find them at Riverwood Trading Co.

So when the fair sadly ended, we headed into downtown Rhinebeck and had dinner at
Liberty Public House.
Great food, service and such a friendly staff - highly recommend this place!
Brisket burger with manchego and the fries served in a bucket were sprinkled with cheese and rosemary. So good!

Sad to say goodbye to Rhinebeck...we will be back!
Maybe as a vendor :)

New in shop...travel photos

I have been wanting to offer these in the shop for a while now.  As I go through the 1,500 plus photos we took in France, there are so many I would like to share.  I chose a few to get started and we are offering them in our Etsy shop and on our website in some really cool barnwood frames. I will also carry them without the frames and will be getting more frames in additional colors as well. These have been slightly altered digitally with a little texture added.

Hope you like them as much as we do :)

Happy Monday!!!

Why so happy? Because I had a party over the weekend (a belated Cinco de Mayo) and my girlfriend brought a platter of these...

Argentine Alfajores, Dulce de Leche cookies by Buenos Angie's.  OMG is all I can say.

Happy May Day!

Gotta love the fresh look of baby's breath.  I like to hang this basket on our arbor gate when company is coming.  Tuck in a take out soup container with water and fill with your favorite flower. Perfect for May Day!

a simple welcome basket

Birch branches and pear blossoms in a tall basket are simply a fresh welcome for anyone coming up the walkway to your door. Loving the green against the blue/grey door.

Finished Bathroom...finally!

I know we are slow moving, but oh well, it's the price we pay for doing everything ourselves.  We are all enjoying our new bathroom very much. Here are some pictures of the (95%) complete space.

With some inspiration from our trip to France (which I can't believe was 1 year ago!).
The color on the walls and furniture is very close to the paint color in the home we rented in the french countryside.  The rustic variations in the flooring reminds us of the gorgeous stone seen everywhere around France.

Baskets to hide the bandaids, tissue box and other bathroom essentials.

Photos taken in Paris and framed in rustic grey barn wood frames add some color to our neutral walls.

The dresser which was given to me by a special friend has been made over using Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint as our vanity.
My husband made a new top for it to hold the greige marble sink.

More on the paint finish in a future post.

Another tribute to our trip!

I am having fun with the accessories in here.

These previously pewter sconces also received special treatment to match the oil rubbed bronze faucet.
I also painted the shades! more on that to come.

A favorite photo turned canvas giclee in a barn wood frame.

Hope you enjoyed the tour of our new bathroom space all done on a tight budget.
The details with some how-to and resources will be posted soon!
Have a great week!

Bathroom Inspiration

I can't believe my last post was on Christmas Eve. Christmas seems like sooo long ago. So on to the next house project. Just a few days after Christmas my husband ripped out the first floor bathroom in our home which was long overdue.  I wanted to share with you a little inspiration board I made showing the look we are going for.

1. The floor! I've had this photo saved in my inspiration folder for such a long time and I don't have the source. If anyone knows it - please let me know! I loved the different colors and the pattern of this tile. I just finished laying out the pattern on my den floor. Can't trust the husband with the pattern job :)

2. I have had the perfect dresser in mind to turn into a vanity, I especially loved the wood counter. Not practical I know, but I'm going to make sure we use a really good sealer on top.

3. Have always wanted a stone vessel sink like these- out of the price range though! But we did find a good second at a great price.

4. This is the exact faucet we purchased - like an old water spout in tuscan bronze by Price Pfister.

5. The walls have been painted in one of my favorite neutrals - Benjamin Moore Annapolis Gray.

6. Don't you love a hutch in the bathroom? Some great storage. I have a much smaller version that I am refinishing. Courtney's has been one of my favorites! photo credit: french country cottage

So, this weekend the tile will go in - before the super bowl starts of course!

If I feel up to it, I may even share the horrid before photos!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Shop Update and Local Holiday Events

Just a little update on what has been going on over here in our studio.  Some of you have noticed that our inventory is changing - to the majority being all handmade by us except for a few lines that we love such as gorgeous ribbons (I have a bit of an obsession!). So, since that is the case - you will find that (especially this time of year), not too many new product lines are added since we are just keeping up with the orders from our current listings. Most of our items are made to order. Although we try to get ahead of ourselves with some ready to go stock.

Besides the website and busy little Etsy shop, we are also selling our products in 3 stores on Long Island!! And each of them are very different which allows me to design a unique product for each.  If you are a follower of our Facebook Business Page, you can find pics of the items we make for the different shops. Some of these products are exclusive to those stores due to design collaborations  which are so fun - when creative minds get together!  So you may just have to visit them if you see something you like. It will be worth your trip!

So let me introduce them to you.

This beautiful shop features several local artisans including the very talented owners!

Here is a little sampling of some of the work I have done for this shop.

Natural Christmas Decor

"french" tote hand painted
Added my touch to a 1940's sideboard from the shop.

See more of The White Weathered Barn on Facebook Here. You will find pics of the owners' gorgeous creations such as linen lavender pillows, jewelry, stamped vintage flatware, artwork, candles, reed diffusers, soap, barnwood signs......this is the place if you're looking for that something special.

Also, the Village of Greenport is hosting a great shopping event!

Here is a link to the event on Facebook.

Another shop I have been working with for quite a while is:

They have just opened in their new location at 903 Main Street, Pt Jefferson Village.

You can find Lori's picks for beautiful gifts and home decor including bedding and Dash and Albert rugs. A true lifestyle boutique.

Here are some of our favorites from Lori's shop.

Such great gifts!

For the locals, Pt. Jefferson Village is having a really fun Holiday Event this weekend.
The 17th annual Dickens Festival, November 30th, December 1st and 2nd 2012, an annual Village celebration of the author of A Christmas Carol, features costumed characters, decorated streets and shops, Victorian entertainment and food.

More info HERE.

If you're not local you can visit Lavender Fields online HERE.
And keep up with the latest news on their Facebook Page HERE.

Finally, I just started doing some window displays and bringing in some of my painted furniture pieces and other home accessories and gifts to a really beautiful flower shop located next to Theater Three in Pt. Jefferson Village at 408 Main Street.  They are expanding their line of home decor and gift items.

I added some holiday touches to the shop yesterday just in time for the Dickens Festival. Kathy and her staff were busy creating some amazing holiday floral arrangements for their customers.

You can also find them online HERE.

Photos of the shop coming soon!

That's it for my news update for now! I need to get back to working on my orders. And speaking of orders. Please keep in mind - most of our items need 7-10 days for production (with a few exceptions) and we are shipping from NY. I know there are a lot of last minute shoppers (like myself) and we will do our best to accommodate you!
