Welcome to the party - so glad you came - I thought I'd have a giveaway to celebrate Karen's annual event - more about that later.
Here we are in my creative studio aka the living room.
As you first walk into the room - my finished products are on display for my local customers that like to shop in person. Plus I get to play store - creating fun displays.
Bella is always here to say hello and she's the best company while I work. I know it's kind of dark and she's a chocolate lab - but she's there at the bottom of the photo.
This is the place where I escape (I can actually close the doors in here and really escape!), and it's where I go to create for my boutique Hydrangea Home. You will find me making accessories for your home. I can't really describe the style as it's always changing around here. I am currently inspired by the serene colors of Swedish Design and you will see that in my work. At the moment I am making tassels, tomorrow it might be mixed-media art, and next week you might find me at the sewing machine.
The majority of the room is my creative and office space.
My sewing area - I call it modern vintage. My machine sits on top of an old Singer table. I just love the storage.
This is the creative cabinet. If you haven't seen the before and after pic of the piece, you can find it here. Right now it holds some of my decorating books (I have an obsession), and various supplies.
Next up is my new ribbon station (another obsession). Love this new space. Almost everything I need for my tassels right here. Would you believe my husband hung these hooks up for me this morning? I'm such a procrastinator - I need a deadline to get things done!
More ribbon!
Here is another great storage piece - found this one at TJ Maxx.
It stores some fabric...
Grandma's buttons - in grandma's old cookie tin...
And some pretty boxes filled with glitters.
Here is where I do my computer work and (I hate this word) paperwork. Well I really don't do the paperwork, so it's piling up!
The work table...
What's on the work table? Paint, tools (in my new favorite toolbox from TJ Maxx).
Cones and paper roses....
Here is a nice view I have out to my backyard.
See that pretty book on the table?
It was an anniversary gift from my husband in 2002. He bought it at an art store in NYC. Look what he wrote - he's probably going to kill me for showing you but I just think it's too sweet!
Something I painted a long time ago. I need to get back to adding to this book.
Here is a little quote for you!
Some of my greatest inspiration over the years have come from this stack.
One final look at my studio...
I would like to leave you with this...
And this...
To celebrate Karen's huge Blog Party

ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I have had a blog for three months and have been doing jewelry together for fifteen years. Come and stop by, if you would like. what a pretty space! so serene.
ReplyDeleteDawn, Thank you for sharing your studio ... what a beautiful, beautiful and creative space ... so many ideas for the rest of us! Your creations surround me at home ... how nice to see their birth place. AND if that weren't enough to turn a vivid shade of green, a perfect husband to boot!
ReplyDeleteOnly negative is that you have decided to discontinue your silk arrangements. They were exquisitely done and the only "non-breathing" flowers allowed in my house. I will miss them.
Your space is both beautiful and functional. I am in love with that ribbon storage. Ribbon storage is something I struggle with. I really enjoyed your grandmother's button tin, and the transformation of that creative cabinet is amazing. I would love to stop by and play in your space some day. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteDefinetly your fan now. Wow, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteJenny
Wow! I love your space! Love the ribbon holders. Wish I had something like that instead of the large tote I have to go through every time I need ribbon for something. One day I hope to have my own little cottage out back of the house for my crafting place, one day! I'm a new follower and love your blog! Debi
